Your temps seem a little high but not dangerously high. ![]() The ECT sensor is at engine outlet so that is the peak temp with the temp being a few degrees lower in most of the engine. At idle and lower throttle the temp should be 105-107 or even a degree or two more. Higher temp at low load contributess to evaporating fuel diute and condensation of out oil through crankcase vent system which is needed when recommended oil service interval goes to 15000 miles. DME adjusts temp lower for higher thrrottle (high engine loading) to reduce spark knock likelihood. The Tstat is a 105C unit but electric heating allows it to regulate to a lower temp if heating of the wax tstat bulb is switched on. I have another same model car can have Engine temperature maintained at 101C max, even at slow traffic it runs beautifully.īMW does use an electrically heated thermostat on that engine. (Radiator? Auxiliary dump? How do I know it is clogged somewhere?) ![]() I do believe the transmission oil cooler is clogged, but I need some advice if anything else from the cooling system to be looked at first. Transmission temperature continue to climb and reach 230F, which is about 110c. Then after a while, temperature drops to 89-90c when hear the full fan blaze. Water temperature climbs to 107c and max 110c. ![]() Monitor the temperature in long journey and found below: He also fixed oil leakage then I took the car back. He said there is no leak and temperature seems down a bit after replaced the valve. I first ask my mechanic to change the "heater valve controller", and check the leak. I think it is caused by high fluid temperature. I just bought it not long ago, low price with intermittent transmission fault warning.
